Belk Fundraiser Sale

Belk Fundraiser for Forest Lake
Dear Parents,

We have come across a great way to raise money to support the educational and fine arts programs without costing you much money or effort.  Belk’s stores across the county will be holding a special fundraising shopping day on November 5th that will be available for anyone holding a special ticket.  They will open the doors at 6:00 am through 10:00 am with sales ranging from 20% to 70% storewide – including rarely discounted brands.

http://tinyurl.com/FLEBelk

http://tinyurl.com/BelkFLE

So – what do you need to do?  Enclosed are 5 tickets assigned to your child.  The tickets are $5 each and work at all Belk locations across the country.  ALL $5 ticket proceeds will go directly to our school.  To make this fundraiser really work, we need each family to sell at least 5 tickets per child to the event.  Think about it – we all have co-workers, friends and family that love to shop – including ourselves.  And here’s the big selling point – the ticket gives the holder $5 off on purchases during the fundraising shopping day so it’s a net nothing for the shopper in terms of cost and $5 for Forest Lake!

Each teacher will be keeping track of the ticket sales and returns.  Please send all of the money raised and any remaining tickets you are not able to sell back to school with your child.  We will be returning any unsold tickets back to Belk after the sale.

Also – there will be an additional stack of tickets in the office for anyone who needs more / can sell additional tickets.  We are not limited to how many we can get – Belk will give us as many as we need. Thanks for your support of our kids and our school!

If you have questions, please feel free to email me at davidsrulevich@hotmail.com.

Calendar 2017-2018

Dear Richland Two Families,

Work has started on developing the 2017-2018 school year calendar. The input of employees and families helps district and school administrators and district advisory councils consider all options when developing a calendar that supports teaching and learning. Please use the survey link below to review several drafts of the 2017-2018 school year calendar and provide your input.
You will notice that two drafts are marked “WAIVER REQUIRED.” By law, South Carolina schools cannot start before the third Monday in August. Every year, parents, students and teachers ask how we can develop a calendar that would allow high school students to take first semester exams before Winter Break. A start date earlier than the third Monday in August would allow the district to complete 90 days of school before Winter Break. An early start date, however, would require a waiver from the South Carolina Board of Education.
We are asking for feedback on both “regular” calendars, which begin after the third Monday in August, and “waiver” calendars that begin prior to this date. Based on survey results, a preferred “regular” calendar and a preferred “waiver” calendar will be presented to the Richland Two Board of Trustees at their November 15, 2016 meeting.

We will keep you informed as we continue the process of developing the 2017-2018 calendar. Thank you for your help.
Sincerely,
Libby Roof
Chief Communications Officer

YOUTH SAVINGS ACCOUNT

Want to help your child learn to manage money?
There’s no better time to start than now!

HOW? IT’S EASY!
  1. Go to a branch of the Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union and create an account for your child. Your child will receive a Spend & Save Piggy Bank.
  2. Send a deposit (cash or check) with your child on Tuesdays (they will bring this straight to the library to deposit). They will fill out a deposit slip which will be verified at school by one of the school liaisons (Mrs. Scullion or Mrs. Luthren). Students will receive a copy of the deposit slip to take home.
  3. Deposits will be taken to the credit union by a school liaison that day.
  4. An official receipt and a small prize to reward your child for saving will be brought back and given to your child at the end of the day.

If you have any questions regarding this program,
or any other services that Palmetto Citizens can offer,
please contact Emilie Lewis at (803) 376-5035 or elewis@pcemail.org.

We will start receiving deposits on Tuesday, November 1st.
