Science Question of the Week

"Science WOW!" Science Question of the Week
(December 15)
Science Always Starts With a Question …
AND
TO ANSWER THIS WEEK'S QUESTION!
This Week's Question:

How Do Snowflakes Form?

Reminder/Suggestion:
First, make a list of the "wonders" or answers that your family comes up with
and then go to the provided resource to check your thoughts!

Here's the NASA resource that you
can use to learn more about this topic:

A snowflake is not simply a frozen droplet of water falling from a cloud.
To find out how these wintry crystals form,

For this last question before January,
please email me your family's answer anytime before we return on January 3.
I may post other questions during the break.
(I am not sure if they will keep them coming when they know we are out).

**Remember to add your child's name
to your family's answer.

Right now, I am “recognizing” all students that participate.
Once more are sending me answers,
I will randomly pull a few answers from those I receive
and allow those students to come choose a small prize.

Have Fun -

School Health Screening

From Your School Nurse

As part of the eight components of School Health, School Nurses conduct periodic vision, dental, hearing, blood pressure, and other screenings as recommended by SC DHEC, and as needed as part of the nurse's assessment during a health room visit. These screenings are important in early detection of hearing or vision difficulties that may impact teaching and learning. Many times a student is not even aware he/she is having difficulty seeing the board, reading, or hearing classroom instructions.

The Students at Forest Lake Elementary are currently being screened for the 2016-2017 year. Please contact Martha Becht, RN, your school nurse, if you have a question or a concern regarding your child's results, or if you need assistance taking your child to the eye doctor or dentist. Our goal is to work in collaboration with parents, teachers and children to help children stay healthy so they can learn.
