History of Red Ribbon Week
Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention and education and a personal commitment to live drug free lives.
Red Ribbon Week also commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe.

Metric Week
October 6-12, 2013

Nanotechnology is now one of the standards in education. Using the conventional language of science, students need to be able to describe the size of a nanometer and make size comparisons of nano-sized objects with other small objects. To accomplish this, students must be familiar with atoms, molecules, and cells. Students also need to have knowledge of basic units of the metric system and prefixes, as well as the ability to manipulate exponential and scientific notation. We have included a short test on measurement and nanotechnology with our metric packet in 2013.

We think it is important that everyone is  notified of Metric Week 2013 in South Carolina. Information on all of the above can be found at the following site:
http://www.artsandsciences.sc.edu/cse See Other Programs then click the “Metric” link.
