Geo-Geniuses!

4th & 5th Grade National Geographic Bee

We are excited to see students involved in the preliminary rounds of the GEO BEE! Students have completed Round Four and will begin Round Five next week. The top 4th and 5th grade students completing 5 weekly quizzes will meet in a school-level bee in December during Global Connections.

Practice your skills and get ready for the final round!! Everyone can test their geography knowledge at www.nationalgeographic.com/geobee, or by downloading the National Geographic GeoBee Challenge app for iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad, Android, or Nook Color. Take time to review your skills during Thanksgiving break. Good luck!

The school-level GeoBee is the first step for a 4th-8th grade student to compete for a $25,000 college scholarship at the National GeoBee in Washington, D.C. May 2013. The winner will advance to the next level of competition, a written examination to determine invitees to the South Carolina State Competition in March 2013. The top South Carolinian will advance to the national level.

The 2012 GeoBee is organized by National Geographic and sponsored by Google. The National Geographic Society is one of the world’s largest nonprofit scientific and educational organizations, founded in 1888 to “increase and diffuse geographic knowledge.” The Society’s ongoing mission is to inspire appreciation of diverse world cultures, enthusiasm for scientific exploration, and careful management of Earth’s resources.
